## Reasons to fly into Munich airport…
Munich is Bavaria’s capital city and the location of the famous Oktoberfest celebrations, where people travel each year to enjoy all the fine beers they can get their hands on in places like the Hofbräuhaus, a three-floor beer hall. But that’s not the only reason Munich is worth visiting…
It’s a city that’s also full of culture and history, and since our taxi transfers from Munich airport will get you to the city centre in 45 minutes, you can see it all. In the central Marienplatz square there’s the town hall, Neues Rathaus, with a glockenspiel show that uses the 16th century as its inspiration for stories, and around the city you’ll find plenty of museums; notably, there’s the Deutsches Museum, which is also one of the largest science and technology exhibitions in the entire world.
If you’ve seen Munich before and want something new, a Munich to Kitzbühel transfer will take around two and a half hours, but when you get there it’ll be so worth it. Kitzbühel is a small Alpine town that’s become a well-known winter resort as a result of its annual Hahnenkamm downhill race. It’s also perfect for slowing things down with a spot of shopping at its many boutique shops, and then you can peruse your purchases over lunch in a nearby café. The Museum Kitzbühel also offers beautiful views of the town from its rooftop terrace, plus a look into the town’s past.
A little further out is Kaprun, a town sitting at the bottom of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier in the High Tauern mountains. From Munich to Kaprun will take three and a half hours by car, but waiting at the end of your journey are sights like the 12th-century Kaprun Castle, Sigmund-Thun Gorge – which you can walk through along a walkway made of timber, and high mountain trails with breathtaking views of the Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden dams.
There really is something for everyone in and around Munich, whether you’re travelling for a celebration of beer, winter sports, culture or history.
